The point is that we need a swan. A small one will do

I don't know what Remus is making such a fuss about. Sirius is being so perfectly reasonable - he could've asked for a giant swan, but that would've been silly.

Remus reflected that regular exposure to hallucinogens might explain a great deal about the behaviour of Sirius’ extended family.

otoh, he may have a point there.

This is delightful, such a fun read! :D

Oh this is so perfect, funny, and entertaining, and delightful.

I had a blast sneaking around and reading this at work.

Screw traditions, indeed!

Though I have yet to eat a swan (and would frankly prefer not to do so), I am actually a huge fan of solstice celebrations, so this especially resonated with me. It was darling and funny, and both our boys were utterly on point. i loved Sirius' enthusiasm and Remus grudging but cute acceptance of all his lover's weirdness. I've probably burned my share of sage and herbs in my day, but your story made me thankful that it was not quite done Sirius-style. Or maybe not, as it was highly entertaining.

And this bit was especially funny: “I stopped trying to understand your actions a long time ago,” Remus said, and Sirius grinned.

Great story!

Hahaha! Oh, I cannot make fun of Sirius for insisting on traditions ... I may have something of a reputation even within my own family ...

I love all the little details, and such tantalizing hints at more stories that could be told - I'm very curious, suddenly, about Sirius's past cooking attempts...
