Wow. Just... wow. That piece was simply stunning. Though unquestionably heart-wrenching (in the best possible way), your prose was so exquisite it made me read it a second time through - only to break my heart all over again.

I just want to quote the whole thing back to you, but I will settle on this beautiful paragraph: James and Lily returned to the flat they shared. Lily cleaned the already spotless kitchen to settle her nerves and James ordered takeaway. They held hands while they ate and talked for hours. About the war, about the risks they were taking, and about where this was all headed, ‘this’ being them, James-and-Lily. A house in the countryside, a wedding in the fall, a baby they would name Harry or Iris, a family, theirs. They went to bed near dawn and woke up adults, the path of their lives clear and neatly drawn.

I am in awe

Oh my. This is really lovely. You captured the war, the horror and the desperation and the need to find some new normal really well. I love the contrast between Lily and James and then Remus and Sirius and how they handled their fear. It's interesting as well how Remus and Sirius came around more, in a way, to how Lily and James handled themselves -- some quiet domesticity. I loved your Remus and Sirius together. I loved their passion and how they saw each other. wonderful.
