I looooooved this. My favorite small gifts offering so far. I love that you make Remus laugh so often. Fics from this time period are so often sad, but I love them anyway. And this one had just the right mix.

:D Thank you! I tried to avoid the sad (like it doesn't even happen).

The only thing better than a new entry in Small Gifts is one written by escribo, set during one of my favorite eras. I love the descriptions and the quiet, lyrical tone--it really makes me feel as though I'm in Sirius's head, observing and feeling what he observes and feels in each scene. The part at the train station where everyone is discussing what to do with Sirius struck me as particularly sad, but I love that Remus indulges him, and even more than that I love the scene at the house where Sirius is watching Remus and Remus is aware of it. The discussion about what happened the night James and Lily were killed hit just the right notes, and I love how Remus indulges him here too, how says he'd go with Sirius to visit their graves even if it meant danger. And the last scene is wonderfully funny and romantic and hot. Moody clearing the house for them made me laugh, and the last line about the future and the past was just breathtaking and a perfect, bittersweet ending. Well done, as always; I love, love, love this story.

Oh! Oh, hi, this is so lovely. They are so lovely, in your hands. I adore it, how quietly (im)perfect they are together.

I like how the love between them is there, but it isn't overstated. That love scene, towards the end, is simply gorgeous, but it's so very them. No other characters could play that scene.

The ending is just utterly beautiful. Can they just be together forever, please?

Thank you so much! This is just gorgeous! I'm sorry, I'm not sure I'm really doing justice to my feelings, but I am grinning all over the story! Thank you. <3

I'm not sure I can articulate what I loved most about this. Characterization, certainly, not just of Sirius and Remus but also Moody and Tonks. Your use of language, too, is very poetic -- and the imagery you create with phrases like "The trees were shedding their leaves, swirling in bright gold and red eddies in the strengthening storm." is vivid.

All in all, excellent.
