Oh! This was simply incredible. The way you managed to intertwine the sweet with the pain and struggle of the war, both times around, was absolutely amazing. The melancholy that infused this was just perfect, from Remus struggling with loss, and learning how to find his place as a young man, and then later, when Sirius needs to refigure out how to live. The echoes between the two were lovely. And the need to escape, just for a little while. I loved how Sirius took Remus away when he needed it and then Remus returned the favor all those years later. And Remus, wishing they had time to get tan. That just said it all.

This was absolutely wonderful.

It's always harder for me to leave coherent feedback on a sad story. I just want to curl up and think about our guys (and sometimes think unkind thoughts about Rowling).

One part I particularly liked, was about Remus trying to forget about Sirius, and then a bit later we see that he has used magical means to do so. It makes perfect sense to me. We muggles often turn to drink or drugs to deal with loss -- I loved that you had Remus use a magical method.

could this piece be any more team place? no, i don't think so. i felt so much s if i were everywhere this beautiful story describes; i could see, hear, smell, feel, and taste all of it. from that wonderful first paragraph where sirius aparates to their gorgeous escapes to the sea and fun fair, place was a veritable character.

setting was a great character, too, but they all were, really. everyone was so real and subtle and fully fleshed out. i particularly loved lily and that walk she took with sirius. and there was so much genuine, nuanced emotion here, too.

gorgeous!

The last sentence: why does Remus have to leave again? Full moon? Can someone please explain to me. This is so damn beautiful. The teen part is the r/s backstory we've all wanted. I like adult r/s, like in PoA, so the second part is the PoA continuation we all need! Why can't they just be peacedul and happy? *bawl*

The gentle constant of Sirius' quiet care in the first part was gorgeous, as was their rediscovery of what they used to be in the second. I loved Sirius' musings on the funfair, especially the point being exposure to the laws of gravity. His bewildered appreciation of all things muggle really felt right given his upbringing.

That mention of bigots gaining power did feel rather uncomfortably real this month though!
