that was so beautiful! it was like a prose poem to me with such beautiful language and images to enjoy. like this gorgeous passage: it’s the weight of the war, edging closer. they all feel it now, in their last year at school. nobody is planning to go on to be a professor or an unspeakable or anything like that. they all just want to work with the ministry and fight. there’s no time for formal training. they’ve read all the books and learned all the spells they’ve had time to learn in between homework and remembering how to be a teenager.and that rings really true for me too. i have read several novels set in the usa during wwii, korea or the vietnam war and this story really reminds me of how high schoolers are portrayed during that time. most of us were fortunate enough to graduate from school at a time in which there was lots of possibility but for guys of that era there was pretty much only one possibility: war. it is interesting how that effected the culture of the time (and how, at least for americans), it effected attitudes ( ... )

You captures that moment so well, the time just before graduation when one must confront the realities of adulthood (even when adulthood in the Marauders' case is so much more complicated with war).

And I loved everything about Remus and Sirius 'taking a walk'.

There is comfort in facing the challenges with someone by your side, and it's a great insight into Sirius ' thoughts as well.

Ugh, my heart! Maybe it's because I've been listening to Hamilton for the past three weeks and it makes war stories even more poignant right now, but oh, this makes me ache. You can feel the hum of the wait, the worst part of the battle, that's threatening to overtake Sirius. He's barely keeping it together, trying to hold on to the past and present while still keeping an eye out for what's coming next, and it makes me wish I could take them all and keep them in a Hogwarts paradise forever. :c It's such a relatable feeling, too, that feeling of an unwilling good-bye to a special part of your life, and that hope that the next chapter is going to be better than you think it will be.

Ahhhh this is so lovely <3
