What a sweet, simple, lovely story. I love the setting, the trees and the mountains. I can see Sirius doing really well someplace like that, once he outgrew his tendency towards restlessness, anyway. I particularly loved the way you wove in canon places and ideas so seamlessly into this new world, with the names of places and things. So creative. Also loved your take on Remus' illness. Very clever, and fit right into your setting nicely. Just a truly wonderful story.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Sorry it's taken me so long to answering! I really enjoyed the idea of the wildness of the mountains and the smallness of mountain-town life taming Sirius' restlessness :) And I had a lot of fun trying to create nods to canon (although there is an actual bar in Winter Park called "The Library"

Oh this was lovely and quiet and cute and fit the prompt perfectly. And I agree with the above comment, I can totally see Sirius settling down a place like this, too. I love how sweet Sirius is, what a cutie.

this is another of those lovely stories in which the setting as important as the characters. this time, though, i can say that i have actually been to colorado and this very much feels like that.

it was a sweet, quiet, and gentle story and i love how the characters, though not wizards, were very much spot on and in character. that was nice. the setting and tone really reminded me of the pace of life i experienced around me in colorado. it was slow and deliberate and very rooted in the things around it.

i also have to agree with everyone else that that would be a perfect setting for sirius. brighty18 may have written about this once, but sirius could totally thrive in a place that was outdoorsy and open and honest like that.

great story!

Thank you! As a Coloradan, it was a lot of fun to imagine Sirius and Remus making a home out here and it's lovely to hear that it resonated with others who have been here/live here! (Apologies for answering so late!)

Lovely job mixing canonical details in this world of yours. You also did a fantastic job tying it to the prompt! Your descriptions of the world were also lovely, as I could easily imagine the smells and colors you described. It gave the story a comforting, rich feeling, and really added to the mood. Lovely job!

Thank you!! I was driving home from the airport, watching the sunset over the mountains after a summer rain and I just couldn't resist trying this AU on, and it's lovely to hear it worked! I especially especially enjoyed reading your comment, because you helped me grow a ton as a writer in my early R/S Games days :) And my deep apologies for taking so many months to respond!
