This was heartbreakingly sad and beautiful, and I love the way you worked in the theme of the seasons--such gorgeous, evocative imagery throughout. My heart just broke for Remus here:

"The war, how many more times we're likely to get to do this, what will happen if Voldemort wins, whether you'll still love me if we both survive."

and for Sirius here:

That it took him three whole days of mad grief in the aftermath to realize that this meant Remus too was innocent.

Actually, it just broke for them both throughout the whole piece--and especially at the end, with Sirius witnessing the others' reactions to his death, and him waiting for Remus.

Stunning work--I find more things to appreciate every time I read it, and that's the mark of a truly great writer.

Thank you!

I need to apologize for taking forever to answer your comment--every time I would sit down to try I'd get intimidated because of all the lovely things you said.

I really admire your work and so being paid such a high compliment is that much more meaningful!

The visuals in this story were lovely. I like how this is pure canon and yet ended on a happy hopeful note, which is hard to pull off given their respective fates. I'd like to see a part 2 if you ever add it on ;)

Thanks! I tried really hard to balance between the sweet and the sad, and ending on a happy note was particularly challenging (especially with Remus/Sirius stories). Hmmmm, a part 2 could be interesting. I kept wanting to write about the scene in Deathly Hallows that takes place in the forest, but it didn't fit the autumnal prompt/theme...

I love that this was separated into parts because it seemed to work really well for the story. It's so sad but almost bittersweet because you can somewhat imagine them having a happy ending after it all. It had such great imagery and a wonderfully beautiful story while still being so sad.

Thanks! I loved the challenge of trying to blend the sad and hopeful "autumnal" moments. And the 3-part structure, just sort of appeared helpfully.

What a sweet beginning and what real fears of Remus! That really touched me. And the last line was flawless. Aghhhh I just want to hug them!
