It was bittersweet, which gave a nice balance to the angst. The hints to all the senses were there but without overpowering the words, and it worked really well.
Really lovely work :)

this:
And he had leaned in … leaned in, pretending to be an animal, something familiar
that really had me. the way (Sirus's) life is constructed out of snatches of thought, associations, phantasmagoria of the mind.
cheers.

Sirius trying to choose Slytherin in order to protect James later on. My heartbreak.
He looked different than when Sirius had last seen him. Older. (Although that not nearly as old as Sirius would have hoped.) -- STOP I'M CRYING
“I almost unmade us,” Sirius breathed.
“I’m glad you didn’t,” Remus murmured, kissing Sirius’ hand softly. “I heard from a very good source that we had a good thing.”
Sirius smiled sheepishly.
“We do have a good thing, Remus,” Sirius said, another quick kiss pressed to Remus’ mouth. -- WEEPING, THIS IS GORGEOUS, WOW ( ... )

This wasn't how this was supposed to go , and how Sirius feels that this defines his life, really got to me. It's so sad the way Sirius sees himself - Too much hot-headed bravery... - ...and when had it ever served him well?
And then when Sirius' memories start slipping away, oh my heart.
Love the ending -
absolutely gorgeous work!
