Point 2: I think it wasn't that they were trained to do it, nor that he was trained, but that he had to do something to get out of there and he just did everything he could think of. It later became known as inception, as more people starting thinking of trying it. Cobb had his (successful) attempt, Eames and his team had their (not-sot successful) attempt and then the Fischer job.

Point 5: I don't think it's the wedding band, because it would have been something he would have used before Mal died, and I would assume he was wearing his wedding ring when she was still living.

Whether Cobb's totem was a wedding ring or not, I did notice that he wore a wedding ring whenever he was in a dream state and did not wear the ring, when he is supposed to be in real time.

I did not think of that...

That Cobb's totem could be his wedding ring.

I'm still not sure why he would spin Mal's totem since well, it was her totem.

The fact that he's holding on to her totem represents that he is still holding on to his guilt of what he did to her, as well as the "cancerous" idea that he's unsure about his reality.

It's not her totem any more. She's dead.

We don't know what his totem was before she died, but now that she's dead, he uses her totem. It's probably not a good decision, but neither is regularly dreaming about real places and events in your life. It's yet another example of his grief over Mal causing him to make unwise decisions.

The things you notice when you watch a movie the 3rd time! I noticed in the 2nd time round:

During the progress of Eames transforming into Fischer's godfather, he is sitting in front of a dressing table&3-way mirror talking to the rest of the team.

In his frontal-reflection is Eames as himself but in the side mirror, his reflection is of the godfather. Then as the camera returns to see Eames fully transformed, his reflection is of the transformation but the relfection in the side mirror is of his original self.

And c'mon, anyone who is kissed by Arther would certianly have an expression of amusement and thrill :)
