Oh waht a delight "Cranford" was to watch! I discovered it quite by chance, ordered the series, and have converted all my friends (particularly the 'Jane Austen' crowd). I see the BBC has made a "Return to Cranford" which I have on order and am really looking forward to watching. I have not read any of the books, and had not heard of the stories before coming across the BBC mini-series, so will trust your statements that it would have made a better longer running television series. But in my ignorance I can't think of any way it could have been done better....except of course the delight of being able to watch more of it in the form of a regular television sereis. And despite my visiting son labelling it "Crapford" when he would come home and have to sit through an hour of us women-folk sobbing into our handkerchiefs in front of the television, I am a most ardent fan!

Interesting review! I think Cranford is perfect and keep watching it again and again. So I kind of disagree with you, still I do not because I would have loved it to last longer^^
