The casting just distracts and detracts from the story, and can’t be overlooked.

The 2000 version of The Great Gatsby does have positive rating, even though it is a lesser known version than the 1974 and 2013 versions. When I first watched the story, it was the 2000 version. It did not fare badly at all and reality was realistically portrayed in this version. It was not too over the top, and the acting was decent. Even in a write up this was mentioned about it that I came across, and I can say that I agree on this:

"All things considered, the most accurate adaptation of The Great Gatsby is the 2000 version. It had decent casting and acting, accurate dialogue, and little to no major plot changes from the original text"
