Thank you for your detailed review! I enjoyed reading your enthusiastic defence of this ill-fated (perhaps undeservedly?) show. I have to admit, I haven't finished the series, but I plan to. I've never been a fan of the darker tone as shown in season two, but I do agree that it is well done, and perhaps more realistic. Although I'm definitely not a fan of the affair between Lady Persie and Sir Hallam - it seemed unbelievable to me.

I'm afraid it's been awhile since I've watched most of the show, though, so I can't respond in the same detail which you've shown. Again, I did enjoy reading your review! I know this revamped "Upstairs, Downstairs" has not been popular, to say the least. And I agree that that really is a shame.

I had felt the same way when I first heard about the affair. But I believe Heidi Thomas did a good job in setting up it up. My only beef is that it mainly occurred in one episode before the shit hit the fan. I believe she should have allowed the affair to happen in more than one episode.
