There is a suggestion in the RotS novel that Mace Windu has an attachment: the Republic. The Jedi became to attached to the Republic and too closely tied to the Office of the Chancellor.
I totally agree about the attachment thing - it was one of the primary reasons it was so easy for Palpatine to get his claws into Anakin in the first place.
I see nothing wrong in anticipating what the future will bring, but not to the point where it would blind me from being aware of the present. I also believe that the Jedi Order’s blinding attachment to the Unifying Force philosophy and inability to be aware of the present may have contributed to not only their downfall, but also Anakin’s downfall.
This makes sense for Anakin - with his fears for his wife's life, he couldn't think about the present, only anticipate what was to come and try to counter it. However, we are also repeated told that after Attack of the Clones the Jedi are flying blind. The future is unclear because of the "shroud of the Dark Side". So I don't see how they could be

However, we are also repeated told that after Attack of the Clones the Jedi are flying blind. The future is unclear because of the "shroud of the Dark Side". So I don't see how they could be living in the future at the expense of the present if they can't see the future... I may have misinterpreted you, idk.
I believe that the main reason the Jedi Council was blinded by the "shroud of the Darkside" was due to their unwillingness to adapt Qui-Gon's philosophy about the Living Force. I believe that the real "shroud of the Darkside" - at least from the Jedi's point of view - was their lack of awareness of the present and their arrogance. Their arrogance led them to be unaware of Palpatine's position as a Sith Lord and his machinations, until it was too late.
And I also believe that Mace Windu WAS NOT the only one attached to the Republic and the Jedi Order. Both Yoda and Obi-Wan were also attached to these institution. And I feel that these attachments led all three Jedi Masters to make their own mistakes.
