Could someone explain why Peter suddenly decided to end his search for the thief who had killed his Uncle Ben?Captain Stacey explains that far from helping the police, he's actually been hindering them. It's the first time Peter is able to hear the other side of the story and get some feedback on his exploits. Straight after that he rushes off to discover The Lizard on the bridge

Betty was never forgotten. One, she and Peter not only became good friends, but also co-workers at The Daily Bugle. And two, they nearly resurrected their romance when Betty was having marital problems.
In fact, it was Betty who was Peter's girlfriend in the cartoon series from the late 60s/early 70s, while he was dating Gwen in the comics.
I did not know that the Lizard's decision to transform New York's population came from the comics. On the other hand, it did remind me of Magneto's attempt to transform all of mankind into mutants in the first "X-MEN" movie. Perhaps the latter was guilty of unoriginality.
However, I still dislike the Lizard as a nemesis of Spider-Man.
He comes back home and listens to Uncle Ben's voicemail message, finally recognising that hunting his Uncle's killer hadn't been the right way to honour his Uncle.
This felt more like contrived writing in an attempt to move past the hunt for Uncle Ben's killer to me.
