Making a wokbench

Today i completed my long running workbench project. The idea was that i needed a very sturdy table in my shed to accommodate my grandfathers metal lathe and associated machines and also have a place to make things on. After looking at some cheap flimsy rubbish and some very expensive things i decided i had better make my own. This escalated ( Read more... )

That's pretty amazing! It looks like a proper table and everything, I'm really impressed!

and its strong enough for me to sit on :]

If i were making a proper table - like for actually indoors, i would definitely use different wood. Smashing my way through all the knots in the cheap pine has left a couple of ugly gouges and the bend in the planks made it impossible to get a decent butt joint to make the top seamless. I could have planed the edges flat but i get the impression they are going to move more anyway.

This is awsome! In fact, the only way it could be bettered would be by adding machine tools... but you're way ahead of me there.
