Still no ADSL, although I will soon have a 2Mb service from the nice folks at Bulldog. So here am with a telephone cable plugged into my laptop (which is back from repair and working very nicely). How retro ( Read more... )

Gack! Steppenwolf?!?! I had to read that last semester, and boy did I hate it! Are you reading it in German or in English?

Sadly my German isn't up to reading Steppenwolf in it's original language, so I read the English translation. It took a while to get into it, but thought it was incredible. There were some places where I thought it was trying too hard to be clever, with sentences almost a quarter of a page long, and the ending was certainly one of the strangest I've read. But I really could identify with the Steppenwolf character, and I liked the philosophical side of the book. I'm going to read it again before the BibliogothThe Illuminatus Trilogy by Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson, so I'll finish that first.
