Looks like I'm a day late here.

I had a pretty good New Year's celebration. I think it lasted over a couple of days... but I'm not too sure of that.

Lately Kenith and I have been getting a lot of good CDs from Wal*Mart, and I've been ripping them (you can see most of what I've been getting by scoping out my Winamp playlist). On top of that, I got Josh's cassette player out of his car*, and then I got myself a portable CD/MP3 player to hook into that. Its so much better than only having a radio in my car.

I've been playing my bass a lot as well. I want to say I've gotten a lot better than I can remember being. At some point I went from only plucking with my index finger to being able to use my middle finger and thumb to pluck without messing up the timing. The only thing is, my thumb makes the sounds seem a bit muffled. I've been working on that. I made up a bass line for Kenith's Song that I'm really proud of (I don't know how to make Powertabs, so I had to tab it the normal way, which I don't much know how to do either... sorry). The tab might be a bit wrong, and I think Kenith and I were going to revise it a couple of times before we consider it done.

I keep scoping out all of the tools I got for Christmas, and I really want to build something. Something really useful.

Hold on a second, there was some stuff that'd make a good LJ post that no one else has hit up as of yet. Allow me to do the honors, but keep this in mind: I have no idea what day any of these went down. So here they are:
  • I had a conversation with my dad, brother and sister about movies and actors/actresses for circa four hours.
  • Kenith ran over a rabbit near Russ Clement's house, and I heard and felt the rabbit *pop* under his tire. Kenith then got stuck in mud on the side of the road while he attempted to turn around and check on the creature. Mitchel Vick drove past us, stopped, and put his car in reverse after noticing who we were. He chatted us up while Russ hid in the passenger seat, only to pop out at the last second. Kenith and myself had to call Jeff K. to help us out. After a strange turn of events in trying to lead Jeff, James, fREW and Tommy 2 to where we were (we were pretty much lost), James arrived and used his beastly truck to pull Kenith's Firebird out of the mud. The rabbit was smeared across the road.
  • I almost died listening to Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero.
  • Josh managed to steal a DVD burner from Wal*Mart.
  • There was a fucked-up series of stories tied into my brother. I'll have to give them bullets, too.

    • My brother Matt lost his job at Lowe's. According to Lowe's policy, when an employee is using a forklift on an aisle, he needs to block off the aisle with blockers and have a spotter watch him. Matt's manager was rushing everyone to get done by a certain time, so when Matt's spotter, Daniel (this dweeb who graduated from OSHS last year), was told to do something, he went and did it, even though Matt was still working on the forklift. When Daniel left, he forgot to close the aisle back up with the blocker. A safety inspector saw a customer within the blocker (he was actually on the outside looking in, pun both intended and not), came over to the aisle and saw Matt using a forklift without a spotter. Matt was fired the next day.
    • The Friday before that happened, Daniel was called up at Lowe's by his friend. Daniel had just met this guy about a week or two before that call. The friend asked Daniel if he could borrow Daniel's Buick. Being a retard, Daniel agreed. About three hours later, near Lowe's closing time, Daniel's car pulled back into the Lowe's parking lot with a cop chasing it. There was a girl driving. What had happened was: Daniel's friend was a runaway, and needed a car. This guy had a girlfriend who was also a runaway, whom he had just found out was pregnant at the age of fourteen. With this guys life blowing ass, he made the girl take the wheel. The cops noticed the car because the car did not have a hood. After the pregnant teen runaway saw she was being pulled over, she started running from the cops. Daniel's friend knew he was fucked, so he told her to go back to Lowe's to return the car. Daniel got off the hook by telling the cops his honest story. Daniel also explained his friend was borrowing the car's hood.
    • A couple of months ago I went to Lowe's with Matt. Matt wanted to show me this hot girl he worked with, but I had already noticed her before he got to point her out. I want to say her name was Rachel. Rachel was fine as hell, and had also recently become a mom at her tender 20-ish age. Well, that Friday that Daniel's Buick nearly got stolen, near the end of the night there was about five cop cars in the Lowe's parking lot. Many Lowe's employees left early, having expired license plates and inspection stickers. Rachel was one of these select employees leaving. Rachel decided it would be best to take a route home different than her normal one. This turned out to be a bad idea, as Rachel got lost and wound up getting into a major accident with another car in which she broke a few limbs and several ribs. She may or may not still have her job at Lowe's after she recovers.

  • Altoids now makes their own chewing gum. It lives up to my expectations in flavor, but won't stay tasty for very long.
  • I've cut my left thumb three times, never having felt it or noticed it until the last cut.
I probably forgot something, because so much shit has been happening. Shit being good shit, I guess.

I think made a couple of New Year's resolutions. Included would be getting a job, exercising more, getting better at bass and finishing high school. Blah blah blah, you know how it goes.

Making LJ posts is a lot more strenuous than I remember it being. I really have been meaning to keep this thing updated. Anyways, I'm done here.

*I got Josh's cassette player because Josh got Kenith's old CD player for his car. Upon installing Kenith's CD player in Josh's car, I realized the volume up button and only the volume up button didn't work. Of course, I cracked the case open and gave it a look-see. Apparently the CD player had been dropped on that corner, as a small peice of whatever kind of board they put in electronics was broken off in that corner, and the one volume up button was on that corner. In other words, I got a Josh's cassette player and Josh got short-changed. He's going to get hooked up with a working CD player for his car soon, though. No worries.
