He is not weak. He is not ukely. He is not a carbon copy of his brother.

Alphonse Elric loves his brother more than anything in the world, but he is his own character. That's the most important thing, I think to keep in mind. I think an incredibly good practice for anyone who is thinking of playing Alphonse (or even Edward for that matter) is to think of them without the other brother. I mean of course always be aware that they are incredibly important figures, and that a lot of their goals are to help one another, but there is so much more to these character than just that.

Thinking of Alphonse with as minimal connection to Edward as possible will help you see how you interpret some of the finer details of the character. Alphonse is so much more strong than I often see him portrayed. He isn't this guillable naive thing with a bleeding heart. He has a lot more patience and understanding than Edward, but he's still just as strong and knows when to put his foot down. He is by no means a push over.
