Please ignore that this is an account for an AU!Grell, as I play Grell regularly.

What sort of things are you looking for help with? I can give advice on shinigami, not so much butler, but I'll try!

i can probably do well enough with his behavior, but i have problems grasping his voice. i'm never satisfied with his speech when i write him. :|

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

...For his speech...I'm assuming you mean diction and talking? (Strictly shinigami here)

Grell in general is upper class. He definitely would not speak like someone who grew up in the slums, however he's not perfectly proper. He tries to be so, yet not exactly...gets it. He might misuse a word at times, overuse another one, or just degrade into plain speech when trying to get his point across.
One thing I do follow quite closely is I believe Grell would not swear unless pushed to the breaking point. Not even "damn". Unless he's thinking to himself. He doesn't fill his talk with how great he is, but he has a slight aura of "I'm better than you".
Affection is a part of his words, he's liable to call anyone "dear", even his enemies (at which point it becomes sarcastic). Touching on sarcasm, Grell uses it moderately. As in "It's perfectly lovely", actually meaning "Of COURSE it's not fine." When irritated/annoyed, he probably still keeps some politeness, but if angry, he can get flat-out rude and bitter. Or, alternatively, he could get ( ... )

Asking for advice on generally staying IC when playing a memoryless Grell, like this one is.
