I actually haven't watched the second series - or seen the original in like 2 years. B-but I'll try from memory? Some stuff may be inaccurate, just as a disclaimer.

Shana's definitely a lone fighter for a while, with only Alastor as a father sort of figure who guides her and worries about her - but only a little. He's more like a teacher who takes her step by step, but ultimately lets her do everything on her own. He, uh, speaks formally, I think? And archaically.

As for Shana, she didn't depend on many people, barely even depended on Alastor most of the time. So she's very skeptical about relationships, and she's even wary about Yuji, even if she barges into his house/room. She does so because it's her duty to protect him. She absolutely takes duty seriously. She is, however, somewhat oblivious to the ways of the (human) world and very possessive of her belongings.
