Stargate Sunnydale Contest
Buffyverse fans of Stargate Atlantis surely rolled their eyes at the previews of episode 3.02, “The Real World”. After all, it seems to be a rehash of Buffy episode 117, “Normal Again”. This episode came so soon on the heels of 3.03, “Irresistible”, which was heavily reminiscent of Buffy episode 73, “Superstar”. So why not steal another Buffy plotline for SGA?
Below is a list of Buffy episodes that lend themselves to one-shot, ‘crisis of the week’ stories. I have provided episode titles and a general description of the episode. Summaries, transcripts and more are readily available on the web. Some of these might seem mighty familiar even to non-Buffy fans. Yep, the same old SciFi classic plotlines are back again.
Your challenge?
Select an episode/theme and revisit it using the Stargate Atlantis crew. No, I am not asking you to cut and paste the episode. Heck, I think some great fics could come from people that haven’t even seen the original Buffy/Angel episodes. It’s the ideas that are interesting. Use the episodes/themes as a jumping off point. Plus, most of the Buffyverse twists were the result of magic. Obviously, that’s not going to work so well in the SGA universe.
Some food for thought: How would it go differently with the Atlantis crew? Who would be affected? What if a character who was there the first time ended up in Atlantis for Round Two? Would they recognize what was happening?
The Rules:
1. Crossovers are welcome - joyously greeted even.
2. Any pairing, any rating - just use the appropriate warnings when posting.
3. Fics should ideally be between 500-8000 words.
4. Post a link to your completed fic here and I will put together a master list of challenge responses for everyone’s reading pleasure.
5. You may post anytime between now and the deadline.
6. One fic per category per writer please. You can write more, but you gotta choose only one in each category to be entered for voting.

The Buffy/Angel Episode/Theme List: (in which you will notice even the Buffyverse repeated itself...)
* Buffy 1.06 - “The Pack” - After a visit to the zoo, Xander and four popular classmates find themselves possessed by the spirits of hyenas. They begin exhibiting increased aggression and er, animalistic tendencies. Wackiness and near eating of classmates ensues.
* Buffy 1.08 - “I Robot, You Jane - Willow discovers her online boyfriend is really some sort of cyber demon. Eep! That, my friends, is why workplaces ban chatrooms. :D
* Buffy 1.11 - “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” - A student feels virtually invisible in the halls of Sunnydale High. When she actually becomes invisible, she seizes the opportunity to teach her classmates a lesson. Wackiness and near murder ensues./ Buffy 6.11 - “Gone” Forces of Evil accidentally turn Buffy invisible. The gang searches for a cause, occasionally blaming each other. Buffy takes advantage of the situation to resolve a few problems - including a rather frisky afternoon spent with Spike.
* Buffy 2.06 - “Halloween” The classic. A spell causes most of the gang to become their Halloween costumes. Xander becomes a solider, Buffy a helpless Southern lady and Willow a ghost. Not to mention the classmates-turned-monsters running amok.
* Buffy 2.11 - “Ted” - Everyone loves Buffy’s Mom’s new boyfriend. Except Buffy. Turns out he’s a robot so who is doing the “I told you so” dance now?
* Buffy 2.16 - “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” - Love spell gone wrong draws every woman in Sunnydale, from elementary school to the nursing homes, to Xander - all except the one girl he wanted. /Buffy 7.06 - “Him” - An enchanted letterman jacket makes the high school quarterback irresistible. Girls want him; guys want to be him.
* Buffy 2.19 - “I Only Have Eyes for You” - Buffy and the now evil Angel are possessed by the spirits of a high school student and his teacher/lover. They are forced to relive the night the student tearfully killed his love, then himself. /Angel 3.13 - “Waiting in the Wings” - Possessed by the spirit of long-dead lovers, the gang is forced to relive their last moments.
* Buffy 3.06 - “Band Candy” - Magic candy causes all the adults to revert to their teenage-hoods. Craziness, a few hookups and much freaking out by those not affected ensue./ Angel 4.06 - “Spin the Bottle” - A spell gone wrong turns the gang into their teenage selves with no memories of their adult lives, but they soon realize they look too old to be teenagers and search for answers.
* Buffy 3.09 - “The Wish” A ill-conceived wish made to a vengeance demon erases Buffy from Sunnydale history and we see what would have been had she never come to Sunnydale.
* Buffy 3.18 - “Earshot” - A run-in with a demon allows Buffy to hear people’s thoughts. She overhears a plot to kill students at Sunnydale High but can’t identify the voice. The rest of the gang is torn between wanting to help and being terrified at what she might overhear - no secret is safe. The voices in her head grow overwhelming and a cure must be found or she will go insane. Plus the whole stopping the mass murder plot. Fun, fun.
* Buffy 4.16 - “Who Are You” - Faith manages to switch bodies with Buffy, intending to leave her to face the punishment for crimes Faith committed./ Angel 3.04 - “Carpe Noctem” - An old man manages to steal Angel’s body.
* Buffy 4.5 - “Beer Bad” - Tainted beer turns college students into cave people. Literally…Also, cavewoman Buffy still has all her super strength and now the IQ of a blueberry muffin. Wackiness ensues.
* Buffy 5.3 - “The Replacement” - A misfired spell splits Xander into two people. He awakens to find the gang buddied up to the other him - one that has none of his flaws but all of his good traits. Will the gang even want the old Xander back?
* Buffy 6.8 - “Tabula Rasa” - Yet another spell gone wrong erases the gang’s memory and they awake with no idea of who they are, how they know each other, or what’s going on. Insert wacky hijinks here.
* Buffy 7.7 - “Conversations with Dead People” - Evil takes the form of dead loved ones and visits the gang one by one, playing on each person’s worst fears and insecurities. (Basically - I did oversimplify this one a bit.)
* Angel 1.12 “Expecting” - Cordy wakes up after a perfectly lovely night with a new beau to find herself 9 months pregnant with demonic spawn.
* Angel 2.14 - “Smile Time” - Angel is turned into a puppet (yes, like a walking talking Muppet) by aliens. You got it - bring on the wacky.
* And because I know now matter how long I spend on this list, I will leave off someone’s favoritest episode of all time…OR ANY OTHER BUFFY OR ANGEL EPISODE.
