no question about it. the days of accountability are pretty much over when it comes to your learning experiences outside school. The assumption at a conference is that you are there because you are a dedicated professional, so you will have wrung every drop of value out of the sessions just because that's why you were there.

The lack of accountability that doctors usually "enjoy" is probably why so many are vehemently opposed to quality measures that tie reimbursement to outcomes. Tough beans, that's what I say. Deal.

That's the mood I'm in. But it isn't unreasonable to require at least a nominal effort to keep up with evidence-based therapies, knowing of course that clinical judgment is also an important part of treatment plans. The guys I have no sympathy for are the ones who are too lazy and too ego-centric to adjust their practice.

yes, I am in one of those moods.

As I prepare to ask for a raise.

was Atlanta actually defeated during the civil war? anonymous December 1 2009, 16:18:50 UTC
When you drive in and around Atlanta, there is alot of civil war pride - all the street names seem to be named after important southerners. I suppose its better then streets named after 5 sisters...

mom's comment about the conference attending is spot on - you're there cause you wanted to be there - surely there were sessions you wanted to go see? or was it more about the cool pens and t-shirts?

love you,
Dad
