Good times are here again. The temporary carnival has taken its place in the Food Lion parking lot near my home. My most vivid memory of this springtime rite is when my daughter and I paid money for the privilege of entering the most un-mysterious, non-fascinating Hall of Mirrors in the history of hallofmirrordom. so i wasn't so irrational in asking them to stop the ferris wheel that one time. i must have caught a glimpse of one of the carnies at the top and decided i couldn't take that risk.

oh and let us not forget that the mirrors were also dirty. we did leave confounded and confused however. "was that for real? are they that cheap?"

but my favorite carnival memory is when we faced my ferris wheel fear together a few years ago. it was $7.50, but it was great.

My favorite aspect of these carnivals is that people climb on the rides to attain exciting speeds and heights, in full knowledge that they were assembled four hours ago by the Cletis looking character who's now having trouble operating the cotton candy machine. Gives a whole new dimension to thrillseeking. It's nice to know, while I'm experiencing a centripetal force of about 3 g's that the lady who tightened the bolts down is a chain-smoking migrant worker with a full-body tattoo of Winona Judd.

wow...that's the best description of the current political landscape that i have heard yet...

also is there still a food lion there?

I didn't realize i was such a succint political analyst, but, yes, you are correct. The accuracy is faulty only in that when the TiltaWhirl derails, people usually don't hop back on before it's fixed.

Yes, the Food Lion is still there where your memory left it. I like that store because the PA muzak plays a lot of Donald Fagen, Todd Rundgren and Randy Newman.
