I just hate the word "Twitter" It makes me want to smack my head against something really hard and keep smacking until it goes away ;-)

Come on...

you know you love it.

The ability to and instant gratification of announcing to the digital world what your doing at any given moment of the day in 140 characters or less. ;)

And you don't even need a computer to use twitter. The phone works just as well. :)

I can totally see the appeal of twitter from your phone. I'm so rarely away from my laptop though that I don't even have text messaging on my phone (well, I have to pay per text). Maybe I should actually pay the big $5/month for texting on my cell phone just so I can tell people when I'm debating between braised turkey and virginia baked ham at the grocery story deli counter ;)

What I could never begin to fathom is why you would feel the need to start Twittering when you already have... say... livejournal (or facebook, or whatever) to do pretty much the same thing.

I don't need to. That's the dumb thing about it.

I actually signed up just to make it easier to follow TSCC people - rather than having their twitter pages bookmarked, I can now just have them in my twitter app. But still... I need to be stopped. At least I never had a myspace page.

Oy. Twitter is such a dumb idea. It's like all the self-important banality of the worst parts of the internet turned up to 11.

We have a word over here, "witter" I don't know if it's travelled over the pond? My mum says it a lot, as in "oh stop wittering on!" Hmm... maybe that's why it's called Twitter...it was named by an English Northerner, and it should really be "T'witter"... I think I might be on to something here... ;-)

I don't think "witter" is a word over here, but "twitter" is:

1. to utter a succession of small, tremulous sounds, as a bird.
2. to talk lightly and rapidly, esp. of trivial matters; chatter.
3. to titter; giggle.
4. to tremble with excitement or the like; be in a flutter.

Of course, so is "twit". Between the two, I'd say that the Twitter internet system is appropriately named. :-P

(EDIT: Whoops, accidentally pushed "Post" too soon last time.)

Well that explains things... "self-important" is my middle name :P

There's a headline that Apple may buy Twitter for 700 million dollars. Amazing how things that sound dumb can be worth that much money! What other dumb ideas can we come up with? Wow. I'm sure if they buy it they'll get a better price than that though.

I did hear an interesting comment on the radio the other day, he thinks the twitter model will become even more popular because it's a way for people to communicate without all the Spam, as everyone is authenticated. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it's spammed somehow.....
