smokin' technology

How freaking cool is this? Electronic cigarettes with no smoke and no tobacco. That video shows an older model, but now they make ones that are smaller and actually look like cigarettes. They use a battery and an atomizer to heat up a nicotine cartridge and you inhale the vapor. Awesome. Well, you'd have to be a smoker to appreciate it, but I think ( Read more... )

The one benefit to my dad being a two pack a day chain smoker is that the habit became odorous enough for me and my family, none of the rest of us will touch a cigarette. We're still trying to get him to quit since, well, we worry. He's cut back at least.

Hopefully this gadget will help and is healthier than a real cigarette in the long run.

Unforuntately, that didn't work for me or my brothers. Both of my parents smoked (a lot) and we hated it. But me and my brothers eventually started smoking (my sister is the only one who didn't).

So we'll see how this thing works. I figure it's worth a try. I've never tried the patches but the nicotine lozenges help sometimes. The problem with those is as soon as I finish one, I want a cigarette!

Ha. Well they do have the zero nicotine cartridges for just that reason - so a nonsmoker who wants to puff on flavored vapor can. ;)

I JUST SAW THIS SHIT IN THE MALL YESTERDAY. It was called Electronic Cigarette, and it was totally bizarre.

ALSO I TOTALLY LOVE THAT SONG.

I did. It's not quite the holy grail of nicotine delivery I'd hoped it would be, but it is pretty cool. It's fatter than a cigarette (maybe more like a Camel Wide) and heavier, so you can't really hold it the same way. So far, I've really just kind of played around with it and used it in place of a few cigarettes here and there.

I'm still trying to get a groove with it - figuring out how often and how deeply you need to puff on it to get enough nicotine. When you suck in enough vapor, you can feel it sort of hit your throat, but you really don't feel it hit your lungs like a cigarette. So I have this problem with believing it's actually giving me what I need. Hard to explain that, it's more of a psychological thing. If you smoke, maybe you know what I mean. I had that same problem with nictotine lozenges. Hmm... I don't feel like a need a cigarette, but it's been a while, so I must need one. Stupid addiction ( ... )
