hiccups

May 05, 2011 06:06

I really really really hate when I'm about to go to bed and I get hiccups.

Really hate that.

A lot.

*hiccup*

It is, however, amusing to see the cat on my lap bouncing up and down with each hiccup.

i should be sleeping, medical mysteries, things that piss me off

Inverted drinking cure. tackdriver56 May 5 2011, 18:23:55 UTC
Bending over far enough to drink from the wrong (away) side of a glass of water, works for me every time. Probably more from extended breath-holding, but it works.

Please don't ask me to post video.

LOL. I don't think I've ever tried that method. It sounds quite difficult.

Try this... anonymous May 5 2011, 23:00:54 UTC
When I was a little guy, my mom taught me to drink a glass of water through a piece of cheesecloth to stop hiccups.

And it still works, for me, anyway. :)

(As an alternative, you can just wait for your Terminator replicant to knock on the door. But that would scare the kitty.)

That method actually does work well. I use a paper towel over a glass of water instead of cheesecloth and it works about 90% of the time. I think it's the sucking you have to do to get the water that stops the hiccups.

Oh hey, that would likely scare away the hiccups too!

I got them at the end of a night shift a couple of months back. Drove home, still had them. Brushed my teeth, still had them. Got into bed, lay down and it stopped the buggers instantly. Weird.

Boo hates me coughing. It makes him run a mile! My theory is, I have to listen to him hacking up a fur ball, he can deal with my hacking cough...

I thought our Sabina was a freak for tolerating fireworks and thunder, but running and hiding from sniffles, sneezes, and my electric screwdriver...

Mini has a thing about the sounds of sickness. If I ever cough or sneeze, she comes over to me right away. Such a sweet kitty :)
