i am pretty impressed with the amount of lj entries i've had to read today. i thought you'd all be hanging on the couch in your pajamas, watching the parades and eating pumpkin scones (how i would spend my thanksgiving morning, if i were an american)(who am i kidding, i'd totally be on lj, too ( Read more... )

The peanut butter snickers muffins are indeed a delight. They were the first thing I made when I got that cookbook. I am a Nigella fangirl.

I think self raising flour has baking powder in it, but you might want to check me on that. Muscavado sugar isn't exactly the same as brown sugar, but they're similar. I'd go with a dark brown sugar for a substitute, rather than light.

Okay, time to make some turkey!

Oh, and I think it's self RISING flour here, instead of raising.

those peanut butter snickers muffins are on my list of things to bake for next week. and thanks for the tips! i figured i could figure out a combo of all-purpose flour with baking soda or powder to replace the self RISING flour :)

OMG I love that cookbook so much. I haven't made anything from it yet, but I will SO be making the baklava muffins.

sounds like a plan! plus, sweater vests are very good at hiding an expanding mid-section.

oh snickerdoodles are my favorite cookies ever, yet I hardly ever come across good recipes for them. were they good?

also I totally forgot about The Office last night, I am SO glad I didn't miss a new one! The friends I'm staying with do NOT have cable, can you imagine that?!

the snickerdoodles turned out ok. i am not the biggest fan of them, but they smelled great cooking, what with the nutmeg in the batter and the cinnamon-sugar coating. they probably would taste better if they were made with butter rather than margarine.

a canadian station played an Office rerun last night (the Diwali one), so i was not without my fix for the week. you are fortunate that it wasn't a new one, what without the access to cable (unfathomable!).

oh, I feel like a total snob, but I won't even bother making cookies without real butter anymore... they just don't taste as good at all! thankfully I don't make cookies too often, otherwise my ass would be about 20 times bigger. hehe

i don't think i've bought butter since moving out of my parents house 2 years ago! but that is my attempts at veganism (and thriftiness) coming through.

i bet this snickerdoodle recipe is a pretty good one, considering the source. nigella lawson truly is a domestic goddess!
