Excel is just so versatile! I will never switch to Access--the program that requires a semester-long course to understand.

As Argonel said, Access isn't as hard as it looks. It is not as good at being a database program as Excel is at being a spreadsheet program, and databases are somewhat less intuitive than spreadsheets. But a big chunk of what makes Excel more approachable is that we've just gotten used to it already. You could take a three-hour class on Access, and at the end of it you'd know how to make a usable database in it. You wouldn't know how to use EVERYTHING Access can do, but the truth is, you could spend a whole semester learning to use Excel and still not know how to do everything in Excel. VBA is a full-fledged programming language by itself. It's wild how much you can do with MS Office. :D
