Winner!

Nov 22, 2016 09:36

I won Nanowrimo yesterday, with 50,800 words. At the same time, I completed the first draft of The Sun Etherium (sequel to The Moon Etherium). TSE is a total of 93,100 words at present (I started it in September). It'll probably get a bit longer in edits ( Read more... )

I hear you on the "can I go on to the next quest nao?" thing.

I am also frustrated by the leaderboards... they are working under some structure I don't quite understand.

But I really want that streak and I blew it after 35 days by forgetting I hadn't put any writing IN 4thewords, so I keep going.

(also I'm trying to rise up the "battles won" leaderboard so I keep fighting Wignows).

I was wondering! :D I've been doing the nano monsters, so all big guys. I've taken out at least one of each kind in the first three weeks, and figure I'll do the same with the fourth week ones.

It'd be nice if you could see monsters-defeated if you're not on the leaderboard.

Yeah, I'd like:

a) leaderboards that showed you your relative rank ("you are 252 of 800 active users")
b) time-based leaderboards: most words in last 30 days/week/day/hour, or some such.

Probably someone has already suggested these and I should +1 it. :)

Kink? *pricks up ears* You should totally write kink. I'll read it! :-) But, I agree, the best porn has plot to go with it. Maybe it'll happen once you start writing? :-)

Heh, at least I'm not the only one who like plot + porn. n_n

I don't really like make-it-up-as-I-go-along any more. Probably because I've had way too many abandoned novels because I didn't know where they were going. -_- Also, it's much easier to write concisely if I have an outline to work from. Saves time editing later, and I hate editing soooo much.

Congratulations!

May I cast a vote for keeping Silver Scales as the title? It sets up such a delightful, book-length pun.

The cover page could feature a set up scales in the foreground, with the center column of the scales carved in the shape of a dragon. The background would be less significant but might set the tone for the period ... and perhaps a rabbit in a top hat looking suspiciously at the scales (and thus at the reader).

I've started a new book this month which I hope to finish this month - a non-fiction work tentatively called Lifemates It is a half-dozen simple rules for how to do marriage right, and will be short. I'm shooting for 25 pages more or less.

It's tough to type where I am, and I'm not supposed to be sitting upright. But maybe I'll be out of here in a couple of weeks.

I am particularly pleased to see you moving ahead with Silver Scales. I've got a photo of the manuscript on the balcony of a cruise ship stateroom, and you know I'm a big fan of that work.

I hope you are able to get out of there in a couple of weeks, dear sir! Not being able to sit up or type sounds bad. :( Your booklet idea is a good plan for you, though. I hope I get to read it!

Maybe you should count this LJ entry for 4thewords!

Congratulations on finishing! ^_^
