Omigosh, so, so much! ♥ Not even just directly this past month, but with the Three Jaguars business columns, and all your posts about your self-pub experiences, and just generally by being the self-publishing trailblazer, like Ursula Vernon said. You write about publishing and business in a way that's interesting and informative and entertaining, and I learned things without even knowing I was learning them at the time.

Thank you so much for that. And also for the signal boost and the wonderful review! But I don't know that I ever would've gotten that book uploaded to Amazon without you out there hunting down a path for me to follow first. And putting down all those trail markers and saying, "you can do it! There is a way!"

Wow

I remember, while we were making the slow, seemingly never-to-end slog towards release, that you several times questioned "why am I doing this?" and really wondered whether or not all the effort was worth it.

You will undoubtably find yourself with that question again, in the future. And when you do, look back to this post. This is why. People are reading your work. People are excited by your work. Remember that 'wow' feeling, keep a little bit of it in a jar on a shelf for the next time you're questioning whether or not all this publishing stuff is worth the trouble.

...at some point, we should really find a way to celebrate the success of the book beyond 'sleep'. ;)

I keep thinking about that, too. Like, yes, 550 sales would not justify the time spent writing the book, but that's okay because the book justifies writing the book. I am not sure editing the book has been justified yet.

But 550 sales totally makes up for all that time I spent on designing the cover and getting the business set up and all the accounts on various sites and proofing the book over and over and over again and etc. I mean, for my time. I don't think it's justified all YOUR time invested in it, but hey, you think it's worthwhile and that's what counts. :D

I art vicariously by supporting artists with my skills and resources. I got to spend a bunch of my time working really closely with one of my best friends in the world to put something out that is, truly, a work of art. Not only was this totally not a waste of my time, but it's borderline "dream come true" territory for me. Really.

(Being able to sit here and grin ear-to-ear going "I was a part of this" is a bonus, too. It's not that often I'm able to be involved with things that I'm truly proud to have been involved with.)

Nice numbers there! (What's the little bump on the green line? Someone got a freebie?)

Thanks! Yep, if you buy the print edition from Amazon, you get the ebook from them free too. (This is optional, but I enabled it, because sheesh, $19.95?) My parents bought a print copy and got the ebook.

... I kinda don't want to ask if they read it. I did warn them about explicit gay sex but ... yeah. o.O

Ah-HA! Useful to know. Especially since whenever I manage to get QoR into print, I will probably do something similar, and I would be freaking out about seeing those green spikes... >_>

Thanks!

I look forward to hearing of your QoR-in-print adventures! I hope it sells better than RA's print edition. :D
