If you loved Disney's Beauty and the Beast, you have GOT to see the musical production! It's been many years now since I saw it, but it's still one of the best plays I ever got to see! (I still get giddy remembering the bar scene. Dang those biersteins and their great clanking sounds!)

That's a bit strange they're keeping her name. Disney usually seems to do better about localizing its movies... Still, her name regardless of how it is spelled or pronounced is better than 'Tangled'. I understand what Disney is getting at with that, but it's still a bit silly. Oh well, I guess I can be thankful they decided not to call it "Snagged." ^_-

I don't know...I'm a bit angry at Disney's marketing team/producers/whatever.
"Oooh, princesses will scare the boys from viewing the movie"...yeah sure, we believe you. Rapunzel is not bad because she's a princess, but because she is FEMALE.
Sure, let's make it look like Flynn is the main character, like we did with "The Mad Hatter in Wonderland" previously known as "Alice" >__>

The Princess and the Frog wasn't a total success (but still made 300+ million dollars...) because it was fighting against *AVATAR*, not because Tiana is a girl >_>

They even marketed it with two different titles, Rapunzel where the film did good (France, Italy, most of europe) and Tangled in the United States XD

...but at least from the most recent images, it appears they have recovered their mind and started to picture Rapunzel as the main character ^_^

Having worked for Disney, I understand why they are trying to market to boys. They already have girls totally on their side. Girls happily buy dolls, merchandise, costumes, etc., based on the Disney princesses, Tinkerbell, etc. Boys... Disney has....pirates. Generic pirates. (They have been marketing Stitch and of course Buzz Lightyear toward boys as well.) Most everything I saw marketed toward boys was not an actual Disney character, but characters licensed through Disney. The fact that Disney recently gained the rights to Marvel characters is another attempt to find ways to market toward boys ( ... )

I know the movie will never be changed, it's just the marketing that's crazy ^^

Now it appears they are marketing both Flynn and Rapunzel as main characters, and I'm ok with it (ehi, it's probably true!). But I totally hated the first trailer, with Flynn the mighty theaf and no name teenage girl XD

For some silly reason, boys don't want movies about pretty princesses.
I think it's Disney's fault. From what I understand, they crammed together many different characters under the princess label (even Mulan who DOESN'T want pretty dresses XD), sold everything from dolls to toilet papers and released cheap sequels. Of course the brand is ruined and no one wants to hear the word "princess"
