Wednesday afternoon, a chill rolls in over the Rowan lake, though it's difficult to tell anywhere but on the surface. The waters grow dark and choppy, and even the sun hides behind the dingy grey clouds that have swept in to dampen Jhelbor ( Read more... )

Ianto was sitting with his back against one of the walls, so it was extremely obvious when they started closing it. He scrambled to his feet and looked down, out into the dark unreachable water. "She's coming," he said. He could feel the shape of her in his mind, jagged and broken. "She's... angry." Angry didn't quite cover it. "Shit."

Sonic's ears pricked up and his quills started to stand on end when he noticed the bubble start to close in.

She was coming. Oh NO.

For a second he tensed -- and then he relaxed into one of the ready stances Lhoral had taught him. "If we're movin', kids, now's the time."

Jemaine felt something fall into his stomach and his resolve shattering piece by piece. He was already standing when Ianto said she was angry and he probably would have cursed or yelled or said something if his throat hadn't just seized.

Bret followed Jemaine closely (probably a bit more closely than he should have been if he was trying to keep up appearances-- why did he care about this right now?!). He looked around, thinking good thoughts and luckluckgoodluckgoodluck because that was all he could do. Angry. She was angry and she was the one who'd driven Ianto crazy and tried to kill Jemaine, oh God. This was-- goodgoodluckgoodgood. He closed his eyes to focus, unconsciously reaching out and grabbing the hem of Jemaine's shirt to ground himself.

"Moving," Cho repeated in absolute horror. She'd waited too long, she'd lost her opportunity, and now everyone was going to-- "We needed a distraction, for her to not be looking at us. She's--" Fucking scary was what she was. The walls closed in even more, the bubble twisting and warping, like a half filled balloon being manhandled. What hope did they have of going up against her face to face? After what Jemaine and Ianto had told them all. She was terrifying and strong, and apparently being left alone for such long periods of time had not been a good thing. Cho whimpered, low in the back of her throat, terror in her veins like ice water. She wasn't prepared for this. There was no threat that she could see, nothing to defend from. It was everywhere and nowhere and if their little world popped, they were all going to die.
