Demyx was beginning to get used to finding his way around the palace- not because he had a terribly good sense of direction but because the Castle That Never Was was just as confusing. He'd brought his lute with him outside, maybe to play, but he was a little distracted by the dragon. He remembered this guy... Tem... something. It was a long name. "Hi!" he said cheerfully, waving.
Temeraire looked up to see who had come into the courtyard, and whether it was anyone interesting. It was that man who very much liked rain. Well, at least he looked happy to see him and not at all afraid which was always nice.
"It's a lute!" Demyx replied, holding it out a little so the dragon could see it better, "I play it. It's a lot of fun." He didn't think dragons could play lutes, but maybe they had their own dragon sized instruments.
"Oh. I have not heard music in a while. Sometimes the men sing songs, but it is somewhat hard to get musicians to come play close enough to the dragons for us to hear well. China was different, but that's how it was in Britain."
He paused a moment before asking hesitantly, "Would you play a song for me?" He had no idea what the protocol was in asking a musician for a song, so he hoped he was not being at all rude."
