She had no idea why she was coming to this affair. Perhaps it was the curious draw of the centaurs. Or perhaps the thought of mead, some small comfort that might remind her of happier days. All Cassandra knew for certain was that this would certainly be a mistake. She remembered this character from the diaries. A devoted follower of gods. One of the many blind.

But the rules were different here. This, she reminded herself as she timidly approached the apartment. It was for this reason that Cassandra had put forth some effort into her appearance. She had cleaned the dirt from her face, hands, and hair, and dressed in a fresh dress of her own, limited, design. She could still remember how she had once dressed to please Othryoneus, how she had washed away the ash and the dust and the war from her skin for him. It was strange to think of that now as a happier time.

She came to a stop just outside of the door, clearing her throat uncertainly. "Hello?" she called, just barely above a whisper.

He'd looked to the door after knocking the candle over, then looked away again as he was setting it back upright. He looked up again less than a second before the woman spoke, and even though he'd heard the footsteps approaching, seeing her there suddenly made Cris start a little. Quickly, he composed himself and stood- just because this wasn't home was no reason not to follow proper etiquette.

"Good evening." He was still holding the candle, he noticed. He set it back down on the tabletop. "Please, come in. I'm Cris; I don't think we've met yet- in person, anyhow." He did not extend his hand. Between men a handshake would have been necessary, but between a man and a woman it was up to her.

Cassandra hovered there a moment, examining Cris. He was not at all as she had expected him to appear. It was best never to have expectations though. And he was certainly not unappealing. Just...different. It had been so very long since she had last seen a man without a beard. "No," she said carefully, "we haven't met in person. But I believe we have spoken." She faltered a little now. How was she expected to greet him? Perhaps it would be best to stick to what she knew.

She stepped into the room, her bare feet padding against the floor. Gracefully, she knelt down, touching a hand to his foot. "I am Cassandra."

"Oh!" So she was the unaffiliated one. "Yes, of course." The way she had greeted him was... different. Even servants weren't required to kneel in front of their employers. Feeling a little uncomfortable, Cristal bent to fold his fingers around the tips of hers and guide her to her feet.

Ginny took a step back, then crossed her arms over her chest. She hadn't expected a reaction like that, obviously, or she wouldn't have said anything. Apparently Cassandra was even crazier than Professor Trelawney. What was it about seers? "There's nothing to be mad about. You're in all the history books, and all they say is that you were one of the first, but you might not have really existed. Oh, and people didn't believe your prophecies, but a lot of people don't believe prophecies even now, so that's not really a big deal." She tried to remove as much of the annoyance from her voice as possible, but a trace of it was still there. She did not appreciate being yelled at just because she'd happened to pay attention to Professor Binns for five minutes.

Cassandra closed her eyes, steadying her breath. "I apologize for my outburst," she said, still facing the wall. "I'm afraid I'm still not entirely used to the whole concept of other worlds, let alone other times. And I did not think my name important enough to live on in any manner." Then again, Apollo had promised her it would. She wondered if the promise was in spite or in love.

"I was a prophetess," she said slowly. "But I no longer get the visions and I'm content to stay free of them. They have caused a great deal of...conflict." That was a diplomatic word. "Since, as you apparently know already, no one believed in them."

Cristal was struck to silence by Cassandra's outburst. He wasn't used to such public displays of strong emotions- not when the present company hadn't had nearly enough to drink, anyhow. He eyed the jug of mead regretfully. If even a couple more people showed up, no one would get a second glass.

His mood changed when Cassandra spoke on, however. He wondered if anybody here, aside from the elves, was truly comfortable with the concept of other worlds. Perhaps they all had something to work through.

Bret wasn't sure what anyone was talking about anymore, but flip did Cassandra seem upset. And a bit crazy.

After the initial outburst and argument seemed to have died down, he decided to try to change the subject. Music seemed to be the best solution.

Strumming a happy little tune out, he smiled and said, "Come on, guys, this is a party!" He walked backwards, giving them all a bit more room. He was dancing a bit as he went, and one extra enthusiastic swing of his hips managed to catch on the chair.

With no arms to balance him, he tumbled to the floor, at least managing to tuck and roll in order to protect the lute. He rolled onto his back, blinking at the ceiling a few times.

"Ow."
