It was actually the music which had drawn Touya into the tavern that evening. He slipped in the door and made his way to a spot where he could listen and be out of the way. The problem with passing through a crowded room though was you were bound to brush a few people...especially when your tail sort of moved on its own. That made it easy to ignore when it brushed the back of Jack's hand when he passed by.
Easy for Touya, maybe. Not so easy for Jack. He looked down, and then followed the tail. Huh. That was new. Tails he'd seen, ears he'd seen, even cat people, but never one so clearly separated between the human and feline traits. "You're a little young to be in here by yourself, aren't you?"
Touya looked over his shoulder. That was the guy who had beenworking with the lights that one evening wasn't it? He shuffled back over to Jack so he could be heard. "I don't have any adult to bring," he said simply. "But I like the music."
"It's nice," Jack agreed. "I wasn't a fan of this zen stuff for a long time, but it sort of grows on you." Jack looked from the boy, transfixed by the music, to the bartender, and then back to the boy. "Have you eaten dinner yet?"
"No, why?" Touya didn't really see why a near-stranger would want to know something like that. Well, whatever the reason, he decided to have a seat next to Jack for now. "So what does zen mean?" he asked, tilting his head just slightly.
