I write nonfic (Historical research) for a living and still occasionally block!

ah, I spent so many years writing only nonfic (mostly health and psychology), and fiction was a bit of an indulgence. - I guess I've altered the balance he last couple of years!
It's great to be creative for a living though, isn't it?

I think you're right; when I think of the years I spent 'fitting myself to someone else's ideas'...!

Thanks for the insight ….you demonstrate that each artist has their own way of tickling the muse. You also demonstrate that you know yourself well enough to have figured out what works for you …an excellent lesson.
I find that often I'll need 'percolating time' for the subconscious to gather steam and get better acquainted with those inner voices.
