New Xena Fic: "Wordless"

Author's Notes: I'm not sure how this story happened. :D I'm deeply involved in writing another Xena fic right now that's a completely different style and tone (more true to my usual style), but this fic just appeared and insisted upon happening. First-person fanfic is hard to pull off well, but you've done it better than that. Gabrielle's voice here is young, hesitant, and yet strong, and her observations of Xena ring true (as far as my memory of the show goes, which is admittedly limited).

Gorgeous tone.

Wow, beautifully written. I love the way you captured Gabrielle's voice. I especially love this:

Her answer was faint and eerily distant. "Yeah. It still hurts."

I was the one to feel sick. We weren't talking about her headache.

Still not sure I see Xena with the headaches, and unable to fix her problem with medicinal herbs. But lovely story.

Oh, thank you!! I was really hesitant to post this one as my first Xena fic. I wasn't as confidant about it as the other larger pieces I'm working on, it's not as traditional, but my beta cajoled me into going for it.;)

Oh, come on, she can't fix everything completely.;) But no, this certainly isn't my personal canon, it's just one possible reality to explore.

Also, I friended you even though I realize you don't actually keep an LJ, but most of my post (Xena discussions included) are flocked, so this way I can filter you in.:)

Oops, meant to answer this. LOL Technically I'm ChickWithAPen72 on AIM, but I'm hardly ever actually on, anymore. I'm also rowan_d1 on Yahoo, and I'm thinking of starting actually being on there again at some point. It's hard for me to IM, because my son is usually around, so I don't have consistant blocks of time when I'm not being called away every two seconds.:D It's easier for me to have a coherant discussion with the help of a bit of a time delay... I'll get back to you!
