Harry is sitting next to her. Backpack off to the side. Lisa the Togepi was still sleeping.

She tugs some of the meat out of the package before passing it over to him, crumpling the tab up and stuffing it back inside the bag. Because littering was bad.

"Sorry there's not much else, but there's not a ton you can take with you on the road that won't spoil without a cooler..."

Actually, there was plenty-- but Heather had gotten sick of trail mix within the first few DAYS in Johto and hadn't touched it since.

The stuff starts tasting pretty awful after awhile, doesn't it?

Heather settles back with one hand planted on the ground behind her, munching thoughtfully on the snack and watching the fire. You know, just to... make sure it doesn't try anything funny.

"There'll be REAL food once we get to Goldenrod. There's like-- actual restaurants and stuff there. Good ones, too." ... And... bad ones, but hey. What else would one expect from a big city?

As they had traveled, a few of Heather's Pokemon, restless things that they were, had likely been let out to stretch and run alongside the winding Steelix, but chances were there hadn't been much time for anything but the most fleeting of introductions. NOW was a different story, though-- smelling food, the creature known as ARTY slithers down from her perch on the slumbering snake ( ... )
