Yep, more Rocket stuff! Bet you're all excited.
First order of business: in light of the results of
our poll on the last Rocket post, we'll be limiting Rocket starters as of the next app round, on the 12th of November. We'll also be implementing all of the Rocket changes starting that week, with new Rockets arriving at the Goldenrod base and being trained for two weeks in the lovely art of petty theft. We encourage all new and old Rockets to review the new
code of conduct if they haven't done so yet.
That aside, all you Rockets better sit tight.
That's right: Rocket Plot is a GO!
On the 16th of November all current Rocket members will receive an encrypted message on their gear, which will read thus:
Report to the Goldenrod Radio Tower Basement at 18:00 on the 20th.
Goldenrod access: 12 Beech Street, #836 Park Avenue, 476 Maple Street. Keyword is 'apple tea'. Don't be seen.
Helicopter pickup from Ecruteak, Olivine and Violet on the 19th.
Be there. This message will be deleted in 60 seconds.
One minute after being opened, the message will delete itself, so you'd better write that down! What they choose to do between the 16th and the 20th is up to them, but they'd better show up for debriefing. Anyone who doesn't will be reported to the police.
At the meeting, Team Rocket will be announcing a change of management. Only the regular faces are there, though: Petrel, Ariana, Proton, and Archer. (If they look a little bit excited and wild-eyed, well, that might be the lack of sleep.) They'll be running through the new rules, so if you have any questions or concerns...yeah just keep your mouth shut, you'll live a little longer.
They'll also be announcing a new mission...wonder what it's about?
Also on the 16th, the Radio Tower is announcing something:
"That's right, folks, the wait's finally over! Ever wanted to visit big, bustling Saffron City, out East? Now you can! Ticket sales for the maiden passenger voyage of the Magnet Train are up for grabs! Rail Passes, which can be used indefinitely, can be yours for only P20000, the price of two Moonstones! Limit of 5 per buyer. 500 tickets available, call now to place your order. Not in Goldenrod? No problem! Jenny-run busses are gonna be coming in from as far as Olivine, so you don't have to worry about missing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Call now, or get your tickets at the Department Store!"
The maiden voyage? The 23rd of November. Save the date, folks.
THIS IS WHERE THE ROCKETS COME IN.
The Goldenrod-Saffron trip is a 6-hour journey. Passengers may have one (1) small (waist-high or less) pokémon out of pokéball, but the rest must be contained. With all these potentially rare pokémon around, did you think TR was going to let such a golden opportunity pass by? NOPE.
Phase 1 of the Rocket plan is to have plainclothes Rockets infiltrate as regular passengers. The job of these infiltrators will be to chat people up, get to know them...and the kind of pokemon they're toting. They will mark targets.
The train will depart at 11AM. At around 12:45, the Phase 2 operatives, also in plainclothes, will move in.
Phase 2 will involve a team of special ops breaking into the cab and knocking out the driver and navigator. (Note: these Rockets will be trained on how to actually control the train during their 3-day stay at Base.) This special ops team's job will be to set up explosives. Remember, you only have 15 minutes-or less-so act fast!
At 1PM, the real fun starts.
Phase 3 will have uniformed Rockets parachuting onto the moving train from carefully-trained Flying-types. Here the gig will be up: give us your pokémon, or this train is going sky high.
Before you think of escaping on the wings of your trusty Pidgeot: the Rocket Honchkrow, Fearow, Crobat and Skarmory are going to give you a run for your money. That, and the Indigo Plateau region is completely uncrossable due to recurring, terrible windstorms. You'd have to turn back, leaving all those poor innocents behind.
Before you think you can just clobber the Rocket invaders: a bullet train is a
cramped space, your pokemon might not fit! Not to mention not all of the passengers are trainers. Some are innocent children! You wouldn't want to accidentally burn them with your Flareon's Flamethrower! Think of the children, because the Rockets definitely aren't.
In fact, the Rockets are welcome to bring their own pokémon to help, but they'll also be outfitted with Muk and Koffing, and most annoyingly, Zubat in order to subdue civilians. That's right! Sleeping gas? Threats of smothering? Supersonic giving you a pounding headache? You betcha.
Cue close-combat pokémon fights, fist fights, really get down and dirty and don't forget to grab some pokéballs, Rockets-eventually, as it always does, good will triumph over evil, the passengers will be saved, etc. The Rockets will make off with some pokémon, though! Any of the PC Rockets that don't want to get caught will escape via one of the Rocket flying-types, and those that do want to be caught need only stay on board and will be apprehended in Saffron. Whether the train gets there in one piece...well. We'll find out, I guess!
What we need from you guys is:
Rockets: volunteers for phase 1 (least labor-intensive), 2 (most nerve-wracking) and 3 (most intense). Rockets will be receiving training for their particular Phase in the days leading up to the mission.
Trainers and Breeders: volunteers to have pokémon stolen, to get hurt, to be knocked out, etc etc, and most importantly: to defuse the bomb!
Remember, there are also several dozen NPC Rockets in on this, also packing heat in the form of Zubat, Muk, Grimer, Koffing and Weezing...and in some cases, a special, particularly smelly new addition, Stunky. Hold your nose, getting to the cab isn't going to be easy.
Plot amongst yourselves. And remember, at the end of the most frightening 6 hours of anyone's lives, you'll get to explore Kanto!
Also, this means that your regularly scheduled 4th Wall will be pushed back to December 10-11th, to avoid overload. Sorry about that; consider it an early Christmas present?
If you have any questions that you don't want to ask here, feel free to contact Stormy, Okami or Raile, since Ara is out of town until Saturday. We'll have more Kanto info, with maps, up before the start of the plot. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks!
