[ It's one dream after the other -- this one, set on a burning stage. And all the while, Sheryl is seated on the plush seats, watching as the flames grow and grow. Simply an audience member, watching how this performance will end.

And still, she cannot move. Glued to her seat, her blue eyes wide with shock, disconcertion and uneasiness. It was something she was not unfamiliar too, had witnessed one before with her very own eyes. A friend dying in her place, saving her.

"Dying on the stage is the best thing that can happen to a singer."

But even before she can react, tears already forming at the corner of her eyes, she is pulled down from her seat (finally cutting away the invisible shackles that held her there) and then gets shoved behind it. Above her head, she hears a crack. A gun shot.

The question almost doesn't register in Sheryl's mind. ]

Of course I'm not okay -- [ She stops in mid-sentence before she yanks her wrist out of the grip. ] What are you doing here, Kaito?

I'm-- [He wishes he knew the answer to that question, and his grip loosens as Sheryl pulls away. His gaze flickers back toward the stage, a sinister reminder of what transpired so many years ago, and he clenches his jaw]

... I dunno. The last thing I remember is this stupid bug.

[And then, he turns back to Sheryl, prepared to say something else-- but derailed by the glistening he sees in the corners of her eyes]

-- you okay?

[ It takes her a moment to realize that he was staring. And remarking on the fact that she's near to crying. Almost immediately, Sheryl rubs at her eyes then turns away from him. ]

I'm fine. The smoke is just hurting my eyes.

[ A lie but he doesn't need to know what the reason behind those tears are. Though considering his previous expression, it seems that she's not the only one who has -- issues with burning stages.

With a deep breath, she glances at him again. ]

What bug?

[... smoke, huh. He gets the feeling that isn't the whole truth, but he won't pester her for any more information than she's willing to give. He knows better than anyone else the importance of secrets]

The creepy ghost bug. You didn't see one?

That weird floating thing?

[ she lifts an eyebrow. ] I didn't even get to check what it's called. I thought it was some stupid prank with all those creepy Pokémons hanging around Cherrygrove.

[ she couldn't really remember what happened next, other than the fact that she peered into its back and then -- sheryl shakes her head before she looks up over the chairs. ] Is it over?

It's called a Shedinja. That's about all I know.

[glancing back over the chair and letting out a sigh]

... probably not. That guy never gives up.

[ upon hearing that, sheryl dives back behind the seat and glares at him. ]

So what are we going to do now? The last thing I want is to die in this place. [ she looks around. ] And I don't even know where we are.

You think I want to die here? [a scoff] 'M not gonna let that happen.

We finally agreed on something, for once.

[ she folds her arms across her chest. ] What does he want anyway? Why is he shooting at us?

[Kaito opens his mouth to respond, then shakes his head]

We've got to get out of here. Did you see an exit anywhere?

[ again, sheryl notes that reaction and the fact that her question remained unanswered. ]

No, but if theaters are similar to concert halls then it should have several exits at the back of the hall, behind the stage and at the sides for emergencies.

[Kaito has his secrets, and it's unlikely he'll be answering any questions about this dream up front]

I already looked there. Nothing. No doors, no windows.

That's impossible! If there's no doors or no windows, how did we get here in the first place?

[ she stands up impulsively to look around in search of an exit. yep. not even minding the danger at all. ]

How am I supposed to know? I'm as much in the dark as you are!

[-- he immediately pulls her down, just in time too, as another gunshot rings out]

[ she stumbles back ungracefully on the floor. ]

Stop yanking me! I was looking for an exit.
