Get a copy. Watch 2:18 - 3:26. Do it. Do it now.
(Two and a half minutes and my mind is already blown.)
(Thank god it was a what-if, because that would be so horrifically immoral.)

And ohhhh my gosh, I know. I just watched the episode last night, with a lot of friends who do not read fic, and two and a half minutes in my jaw dropped. Haha. What a surreal moment that was. But that was also after Sherlock made out with Molly, so I was pretty sure it was all fake by then.
And ugh, I'm one of the naysayers that was not pleased the episode was so fanfiction-y. But I'm flattered you thought of me in that moment, haha. It makes me feel less crazy when I wonder, did anyone else think those two seconds of John being hypnotized was kind of hot? :)

It's impressive, really. Never before have I genuinely wondered if I was dreaming and had the answer turn out to be "no".
(I think part of the problem was that--having seen the Tumblr buzz--the idea that they might do something like that had already occurred to me and I had explicitly dismissed it as something they would never actually do. And then they immediately went and did it.)

I've pretty much just accepted that Moffat productions are going to be shallow and pandery. It's not wrong for people to hold them to higher standards--I'm not entirely sure that isn't the right thing to do--but personally I'm leaning towards enjoying the mess rather than setting myself up for disappointment ( ... )

Okay, um, did you just give me The Hitchhiker's Guide to Sherlock Holmes? Because I'm sort of in love with you for that.
Of course you're right about Moffat, but I hate dismissing Sherlock as just a silly show, because I used to think it was legitimately really wonderful. That's why I got fannish about it in the first place. Not because Moffat likes feeding my fannish-ness back to me in an endless dizzying feedback loop. But he always needs to "up the stakes" and winks a lot and completely loses sight of why anyone fell in love with the show in the first place, and it drives me up the fucking wall!
Sorry, you've got me ranting again. :)
Honestly, one of the primary purposes of Tumblr is to be a post-new-canon support groupDude, how true. It's funny how we all come together out of mutual love, and then we stay together through all sorts ( ... )
