Intriguing, I wonder what Mary is hiding? She seems very self contained. I love John's anxiety about them meeting and this line especially: 'He wanted Sherlock to be some secret he could come home to, completely separate from everything else he had.' Poor guy.

I love how you seem to be working in a bit of "The Sign of Four" here with Mary's father and the pearl bracelet! I understand John's anger at Sherlock for letting him believe he was dead, but I feel so sorry for Sherlock. John has Mary and is determined to punish Sherlock for leaving him behind, yet John refuses to see what Sherlock had to suffer through and lose as well. Sigh.
