Friday, the good ol' High Holiday, was off and kicking, a gathering planned at my place, and Jeff and I setting up and goofing off. And butchinson drunk-dials. So good to hear his voice, even through my crap signal in my apartment

I'm getting used to the different install method (the window dragging thing cracks me up at this point). So far so good, except with Adium. I did the install, and the "drag this to applications" window opened. So i did that, and now, when i launch the app, an "Adium 1.0.2" or something appears on my desktop every time. i can't delete it while the prgram is open, as it says it's in use, but can when i close it. Yet when I open the program again, it shows back up. I'm not sure why, or if I did my install incorrectly by accident or what. Any idea how to make this file not appear on my desktop when I open Adium?
where do you launch the app from? your dock, or from the /Applications folder?
regardless, i use adium, and i've never had the problem that you describe.
it should be as simple as:
1. download the .dmg or other image file 2. double-click to mount it 3. drag the application icon to your /Applications folder 4. open the app from there.
that should be it. then you can also unmount and throw away the disk image you downloaded.
perhaps trashing all the adium related things you downloaded and trying again?
(don't worry... any preferences you've set up will not get deleted. they're saved in ~/Library/Preferences, and can stick around regardless)
sweet. I figure a reinstall would work. i think i may have dragged it to the wrong place or something. But I didn't want my setup taken away yet. I've just been tinkering and tinkering :)

Anyway, if jdhorner is unavailable or stumped I can take a stab at it, especially with networking stuff.
