One such as myself doesn't use the third person to talk about oneself. It simply isn't done.

It's like maman used to say to me as a boy, growing up at the Coast, "Don't call unnessary attention to yourself. It isn't flattering."

Ah ma chère Rosita, you have such a colourful way of writing. A naughty little monkey?! I'd love to meet your mother some day. I imagine she'd have many entertaining stories to tell, especially those of young Rosita as a boy.
