This is wonderful! I salute you for salvaging so much from the horrid mess of how Haven crashed and burned.
I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch the last eps, and probably never will - I read a synopsis, and that was more than bad enough for me. But even so I can tell that this fic is so much truer to the characters and provides a far more satisfying sense of closure than the actual series did.
I didn't see them as they happened, and my download of the finale was delayed, so I'd been more or less spoiled by the time I saw it. All the possibilities they had to end it and they chose... what? It was such an unbelievable WTF? At that point all they had to deliver was happy ending. No more surprises. The characters had suffered enough to earn it. No matter what, it would have been bittersweet, because they'd carry the scars of their suffering and all those who died for the rest of their days.
I tend to erase the last two minutes from my brain. Ghost!Duke is hovering around and Nathan went back, and Audrey is in the Barn, which is my starting point here. I can deal with that much downer ending. Not with Audrey screwing over her identity to be with the boy and give the audience their Naudrey ending.
