Obviously I'm not actually involved in this but I do think the legal action is a bit much. I mean, if you guys had signed a contract together about your moving out, about the time by which you'd have your last month rent back and such it would be a different deal. But since they haven't even gotten the security deposit back and such and to my knowledge useful legal documentation is at a minimum, paying for a lawyer seems more bother than it's really worth.
It seems like it'd be really a waste of your time if whatever funds a court case might happen to grant you ended up going to legal fees.

I don't really want to talk about this too much because it is a legal deal and its just best to keep number of people involved to a minimum, but small claims court is for cases under like $5000 and doesn't require or actually allow lawyers, so, no legal fees other than filing and processing. And doing everything I can to get back the money that I believe is owed to me is worth that amount. As it has been 9 months since I moved out (Dec. 5) and I only lived there for 9 months, I don't think my actions are unreasonable. Perhaps if anyone had returned my calls or responded to my letters or emails in the last 9 months I wouldn't feel forced to turn to legal action, but I let every party involved know that it could come to that. As to whether anyone else has gotten their deposit back, if they had decided to stay there for another two years should I have had to wait 2 years and 9 months to get back my last month's or security? That doesn't seem fair or equitable that anyone else should get to live off of my invested funds if I am not living ( ... )

What are all these people doing commenting on my post?! :P

I only caught about 60% of what is going on with unpaid rent agreements but it sounds terrible and unfair. I despise how inconsiderate things get once you live with someone. Anyhow, I am for you.

I think I am going to skip the anti-bride books. Despite my issues with the general semantics of a wedding, I quite approve of the syntax. Mostly, I plain don't care so I am defaulting to "tradition." I won't be expecting many non-family people to come either. In fact, now that I think about it, I am only counting on family, but that includes my closest friends. I think proof of that is how we understand each other even when (or sometimes especially when) the other person is not talking.
