I meant to ask (might have done, actually, and forgotten, in which case ignore this) whether you'd read any of the Christopher Fowler Bryant & May series, which seem to me rather like someone taking the above list of books and shaking them over blank pages until a set of crime novels (very broadly speaking) somehow occurs. :)

I think you mentioned them when we met for lunch, but the name had slipped my mind so I'd been meaning to ask you again - I'll have to definitely have to keep an eye out for them.
