What's interesting about the Cycle is that Wagner took a decade long break in the middle of Siegfried, so the music of Götterdämmerung is very different than what came before -- but it's still built around the system of leitmotifs that he established in the first three operas. Thank you for your write-ups and notes-- I feel like I've learned so much (and you know that's a crazy happy fix). Liked the Ring Cycle back when I listened to it, eleven years ago. Think it's about time to at least find a decent video...
