o115; to thank again

Nov 25, 2009 20:12

With all these consistent curses, I'm surprised anyone's been able to do anything at all. This has been one crazy event after another, honestly! I do hope everyone is doing better! I do love this time of year though-- not quite the end of fall, not quite the beginning of winter. There's always something really enchanting about it, though I might be ( Read more... )

I'm sure you would have no trouble finding something to be merry about.

I've only celebrated Thanksgiving since coming to the City. I can't recall if I celebrated it last year, but I think I went to someone's dinner the first year I was here.

And it looks like I might just get to celebrate it again this year--if I'm invited, of course.

I'm sure you'll hear from Rosella herself, but I wanted to ask on her behalf, since both you and she are friends of mine.

Sam's been hurt, and badly, in one of those nightmarish traps. It was a curse, yes, but his wounds are real enough. Is it too forward of me, borrowed 'familiar' that I am, to ask if you might see about sending a little magic his way?

Really, I suppose you should ask him first since that seems like the way the magic works, but I wanted to mention the idea to you. His injuries are worrying Rosella beyond sense. I have my doubts that the girl is even eating or sleeping.

Really Cain, if you need to ask, then I'm going to be ashamed of myself. Of course you're invited. I can't say I'm too used to the idea, but if it's celebrating something nice like being thankful, why not enjoy it, right?

Those-- you mean those dreadful traps we were all subjected to two years back? It's been that long? Cain, you should have just gone to him and used my magic anyway!

But of course, I'll help-- however you need it, luv. Have you been able to check on her at all? The poor dear..

You know I never think to do that at times like these. And, damn it all, this is exactly what that pact was for, wasn't it?

Those traps, yes, but there was another time when someone in particular was setting them--Amanda Young, if the name is familiar to you. I remember those days, but I was busy with my father and my brother, and perhaps even Merry being in the City and I don't recall much about what happened, but I do recall it happening.

But he asked whether her portrait was still in the Hall. So he was one of her victims before, and this isn't the first time that he's been hurt like this.

I've checked on her as much as I can. I think she's spending all the time she can at the hospital with him.

Oh, are you coming up on an anniversary too, Megumi?

That was in August, luv. But it's certainly another year here, as much as it disturbs me to think it.

How are you, Rosella? I heard about Sam. Why didn't you let me know immediately? I'd have looked to him as soon as he was brought in.

Was it? I'm sorry, I must've lost track. I'll remember it now, though, since mine is in August, too.

...Oh, I'm--it's just that Dr. Chase was the one telling me how to--I was a bit...preoccupied, at the time. And not thinking much of anything at all, really.

I'm sorry-- that was dreadfully tactless of me. But I was worried about you when Cain told me. How is Sam doing now?

It's definitely a noisy time of year.

Certainly not as bad as Christmas. I would have thought Thanksgiving to be one of the more quieter events!

Holidays all sorta blur together in the winter to me. Though Christmas is prolly the loudest, yeah. Gets a lotta movies devoted to it too.
