Video Game Musings...

So. In all the hoopla of getting caught up in newer fandoms--Doctor Who last year, Gilligan's Island this year, and a Monkees revival with the upcoming concert tour, I tend to forget about my other fandoms.

First of all, Legend of Zelda. I got the "Link Between Worlds" game last year when it was released. I adore it; as a sequel to my favorite ( Read more... )

That's awesome that they made a sequel to your favorite game! And interesting that you find the top-down view easier to work with. I think I always prefer head-on when I'm playing games. But since you're more used to the other way, it's understandable that you'd find it easier ( ... )

Oh, yes, I was thrilled when the sequel was announced! And yes, it is what I'm used to; all the Pokémon games (except for 1 part in the newest ones) and handheld Zelda games (except for Ocarina, which was an N64 port anyway) are top-down ( ... )

Wooow. That's quite a difference, yes. The artwork for X and Y is gorgeous.

More of a challenge sounds fun, too!

(I'll have to have a look, out of utter curiosity.)

Oooh, I didn't know one of the cartoons was based around 2.

I could be wrong about the artwork, although I was sure I saw one with Luigi looking bashful/embarrassed/smiling in kind of an "Ooops!/Oh gosh" way with a hand on his cheek.

LOL. So cute.

Yessssss. Amazing scenery and graphics all around!

Indeed.

(Nodnod. I'd have to skim through and see if there's anything freaky, though; I seem to remember that Bowser "devolves" from a humanoid to a dinosaur, which was definitely in the extreme weird... particularly since he's not supposed to be humanoid in the first place. Yeaaaah.)

Yes! The first one, the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, was based on 2 with bits of 1! Since it is the oldest, it's the one I remember least, but I do remember that this was the one that aired with the Zelda cartoon (and that was horribly OOC, and not in an "alternate characterization" way), and there were also live-action Mario skits where the brothers' VAs dressed up and actually showcased their misadventures in their plumbing business! The skits are rather Monkees-esque, zany, random things happening, like a vampire moving into their basement. LOL

I haven't been gaming as much lately as you have: I'm not further in X than when I battled you a couple of months ago, and I've only beaten one dungeon so far in the newer Link game. Though, I am very excited about these new ones! :) I hardly ever use my GBA, so it's nice that I don't have to hunt down an original Emerald cartridge. Though, I'm not sure which one to pre-order: Sapphire or Ruby. You know me, which one would you recommend?

Also, I got really sick last year-- a mysterious, excruciating leg pain kept in bed during all of spring break, but fortunately, that was when "Dark Moon" came out. Luigi helped my through my pain, and though the gameplay wasn't what I expected, I do thank him through that.

I also need to get back to Square Enix's epic RPG "Bravely Default," which is unusual and awesome. :D

Well, I am most likely getting AlphaSapphire, since I have the original Sapphire. Unless they mix around which Pokémon appear in each game; I usually check and see what the version exclusives are before making a decision.

*hugs* oh dear. Glad you're feeling better and that Luigi helped!

...Not familiar with that one...

I didn't check which ones were exclusive when I chose X, I picked merely because of the cover. XD;

Yes, he provided a lot of entertainment that week. Funny enough the same pain is starting to act up a bit again.
